Wichita Symphony Orchestra
Botanica, the Wichita Gardens
March 19, 2026
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wichita, KS — The Wichita Symphony and Botanica, The Wichita Gardens, are proud to announce the return of the city’s premier outdoor musical event: Symphony in the Gardens on Friday, May 15, 2026. In honor of our country’s landmark anniversary, this year’s “American Landscapes” theme transforms twenty acres of floral beauty into a sprawling, multi-sensory garden party, inviting guests to explore the sounds of the American landscape amidst the peak of spring blooms.
This one-of-a-kind outdoor concert experience invites guests to explore the grounds at their own pace, sampling fare from food and drink stations tucked away throughout the scenery while encountering a variety of Wichita Symphony ensembles. As the sun sets, guests are invited to gather at the Dr. David & Mickie Brown Lawn & Stage for a stirring finale under the stars, featuring the iconic works of John Williams, Copland, Sousa, and Irving Berlin.
“Symphony in the Gardens is a celebration of everything that makes Wichita special—music, nature, and community coming together in one extraordinary evening,” says Dr. Lynette Zimmerman, Executive Director of Botanica. “As guests wander through the gardens surrounded by spring blooms and the sounds of iconic American composers, they experience Botanica in a way that is joyful, immersive, and uniquely memorable.”
“By bringing the music out of the concert hall and into the gardens, we allow the audience to experience these American masterpieces in a way that feels incredibly personal and festive,” adds Daniel Hege, Music Director and Conductor of the Wichita Symphony. “There is a specific kind of magic that happens when you pair music by Aaron Copland and other great composers with the open air and the beauty of Botanica.”
Tickets are $135 and can be purchased online at WichitaSymphony.org or Botanica.org. All tickets include admission to the gardens, all musical performances, food, two drink tickets, and complimentary chairs for the finale concert. For an enhanced evening, a limited number of VIP tickets are available for $185 and include complimentary open bar, VIP parking, reserved seating at the finale concert, and a $35 tax-deductible donation.
