War Horse in Concert

Oct 27
Sunday
3 PM
Century II Concert Hall

featuring Wichita Repertory Theater (ICTRep)

War Horse is a timeless story of friendship, bravery and innocence set against the devastating backdrop of World War I, as told through the eyes of the brave-hearted horse Joey.

The acclaimed book by Michael Morpurgo has been previously adapted for the stage and for film. Now, War Horse in Concert (conceived in 2017), uses theatrical performance elements to showcase a concert-length orchestral score by British composer Adrian Sutton (whose music is often compared to that of Edward Elgar). Orchestral chapters are interwoven with four actors from ICTRep reading selections from the book, in addition to a tenor soloist and Butler Community College Concert Choir who sing historic, folk-based melodies. Visual art of Rae Smith is animated on a large projection screen.

An emotionally uplifting experience, you won't want to miss this North American Premiere of War Horse in Concert.

This performance is recommended for ages 10+.
