Our season of joy concludes on a high note with Byron Stripling’s electrifying tribute to American music. From spirituals and gospel tunes that lifted spirits to the rhythms of ragtime and the heartfelt passion of the blues, this is a musical journey through the rich tapestry evolution of American music. As the night unfolds, the orchestra and Stripling's charismatic trumpet and vocals along with the incredible talents of the dynamic vocalist Mamie Parris lead the audience through the birth of jazz, the soulful grooves of R&B, and all the vibrant genres that define the American soundscape. With every note, America the Beautiful celebrates the diversity, resilience, and creativity that compose our nation’s history.

About Byron Stripling

Since his Carnegie Hall debut with Skitch Henderson and the New York Pops, Stripling has become a pops orchestra favorite, soloing with Boston Pops, National Symphony, Pittsburgh Symphony, Cincinnati Pops, Seattle Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Dallas Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Detroit Symphony, Vancouver Symphony, Toronto Symphony, and Dallas Symphony, to name a few. Byron Stripling's electrifying and heartfelt tribute to Louis Armstrong has become America's most popular orchestral pops program. With his engaging rapport, jazzy vocals and virtuosic trumpet sounds, Byron dazzles audiences wherever he goes.

About Mamie Parris

Mamie Parris has developed a diverse and unique body of work throughout her extensive career. In addition to appearances with symphony orchestras across the continent, including the Rochester
Philharmonic, The Columbus Jazz Orchestra, and the Fort Worth, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Milwaukee, and St. Louis Symphony Orchestras, her one-woman cabaret, Surrender: An Andrew Lloyd Webber Thrill Ride, was awarded the Best of the City by Time Out New York. Best known on Broadway for her one-of-a-kind rendition of the iconic Memory, she is no stranger to the work of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, having starred as Grizabella in the Broadway revival of Cats, as Rosalie (closing cast) and Patty (opening cast) in Broadway’s School of Rock, and in the US premiere of the Lloyd Webber retrospective Unmasked. Other Broadway appearances include the Tony-nominated revivals of Ragtime, 110 In The Shade, and On The 20th Century, as well as the Tony-winning musical The Drowsy Chaperone.
