The Great Plains Composition Workshop, in association with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra, invites composers with up to three years of composition experience—as well as creative musicians who are interested in trying composition for the first time— to apply for the inaugural 2020 Workshop. Composers/musicians should be at least 16 years old and be able to read music. BIPOC/women/underrepresented people are encouraged to apply. The Workshop will be hosted on Zoom, and selected participants and auditors need not travel to Wichita to participate.
Attendees will join Emmy-nominated guest composer, Anne M. Guzzo, and professional musicians from the Wichita Symphony Orchestra including Music Director and Conductor Daniel Hege, Concertmaster Holly Mulcahy, and others in a series of guided exercises, readings, workshops, panels, and a final online performance of participants’ new compositions by soloists from the Wichita Symphony Orchestra.
Sunday, August 16 @ 7:00 p.m.
Join us for the final recital of our Great Plains Composition Workshop Participants after a week working with Emmy-nominated composer Anne Guzzo and Wichita Symphony Musicians. Cost is $10, and a link to view the performance will be emailed to you.
