Inside the Music with Daniel

Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. before Classics concert weekends

How much do you know about Gershwin or Mendelssohn? Did you know Mahler’s Fourth Symphony was written as a child’s depiction of heaven? Or how about that Sibelius, Tchaikovsky and Nielsen composed just down the beach from one another? Find out all these things and more at Inside the Music with Daniel, a deeper glimpse into the lives and compositions of Classical masters on our programs with WSO Music Director and Conductor Daniel Hege.

Sessions are the Thursday before every concert weekend at 9:30 a.m. and last about one hour. They are located next to the Wichita Symphony box office in the Founder’s Room at Century II. Cost is $5. Coffee, water and baked goods served.

Concert Talks

If you’d like to learn more about the music on our concert programs, Concert Talks are just what you need. Before every concert the WSO will present pre-concert talks which help prepare you and deepen your understanding of the music to be performed on the program. Sometimes our guest soloists join Maestro Hege for a discussion of their concerto collaboration. Free to all ticket holders, Concert Talks take place in the Concert Hall one hour prior to each performance.

Saturday Concerts: Concert Talk at 7:00 p.m., doors open at 6:45 p.m
Sunday Concerts: Concert Talk at 2:00 p.m., doors open at 1:45 p.m.
