For College Students

For young musicians who take their studies to the collegiate level, the Wichita Symphony has built continuing education programs into its core. A partnership with the Wichita State University School of Music allow graduate level students to perform on a professional level, and the Naftzger Young Artists Competition awards $11,000 in prizes to exceptional students in the three-state area.

 

Cooperative Education Programs with
Wichita State University

The WSO maintains a relationship with the Wichita State University School of Music. This partnership allows musicians studying for their masters degree the opportunity to perform as members of the Wichita Symphony Orchestra.

Naftzger Young Artists Auditions and Awards

Administered by the Wichita Symphony, the Naftzger Young
Artists Competition offers cash prizes in three categories:
Piano, Voice and Instrumental. $11,000 in prizes, including
a $5,000 first place award. The Naftzger Young Artists
Auditions are held April 26 and 27, 2013.

The competition is open to residents of Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma, regardless of their school or study, or non-residents who are enrolled at a college, university or conservatory in Kansas, Oklahoma or Missouri.
